Tool

What is the Date & Time Difference Calculator?

This tool answers questions like “How many years and months have passed since that day?”, “How many working days are there between the project start and the deadline?”, or “How many hours and minutes was that meeting?”—all in one place, broken down into years, months, days, hours, minutes, and seconds.

Use it whenever you need a detailed time span calculation that includes the time of day, or when you need to exclude weekends for a workday count.

How to Use

  1. Enter a start date and time, and an end date and time. You can include hours and minutes for precise calculations.
  2. Check "Exclude weekends (workdays)" to see the number of working days (Monday–Friday) separately.
  3. Check "Include end date" to count the end date itself as part of the duration.
  4. Use the "⇄ Swap" button to quickly switch the start and end date/time.

FAQ

How is this different from the existing Date Calculator tool?

The existing Date Calculator focuses on checking day differences and finding a date a certain number of days away. This tool specializes in showing the full breakdown of a time span in years, months, days, hours, minutes, and seconds, and also supports time input and workday calculation.

What happens if the end date is before the start date?

A warning message is displayed. The absolute value of the difference is still shown correctly, so you can still use the result as a reference.

Are public holidays excluded in the workday calculation?

Currently, only Saturdays and Sundays are excluded. Public holidays are not taken into account, so please keep that in mind.

Are leap years and varying month lengths handled correctly?

Yes. The tool uses the browser's built-in date calculation functions, so leap years and the differing number of days in each month (28–31) are all handled accurately.
