Only JPEG images typically contain Exif data.

Images are processed entirely in your browser and never sent to a server.

What is the Image Metadata Viewer?

The Image Metadata Viewer lets you inspect the Exif metadata embedded in a JPEG image. It shows the camera make and model, date taken, and exposure settings (shutter speed, aperture, ISO), along with GPS coordinates when present.

All processing happens entirely in your browser — your image data is never sent to a server. Note that sharing photos via social media or messaging apps typically strips Exif data automatically for privacy reasons.

Use Cases

  • Check when a photo was taken and which camera captured it
  • Check whether an image contains location data before sharing it, as a privacy check
  • Review a photo's exposure settings (shutter speed, aperture, ISO)

How to Use

  1. Select a JPEG image file, or drag and drop it into the drop zone.
  2. If the image contains Exif data, the camera model, date taken, exposure settings, and GPS coordinates (if present) are shown automatically.
  3. If GPS coordinates are present, a link to view the location on a map is displayed.

FAQ

Is this tool free?

Yes, it is completely free to use.

Is my image sent to a server?

No. All processing happens in your browser. Images are never uploaded to a server.

Why doesn't my image show any Exif data?

Images shared via social media or chat apps usually have their Exif data stripped for privacy. Also, formats other than JPEG (like PNG or WebP) generally don't carry Exif data at all.

Does it show GPS location data?

If the image has GPS coordinates recorded, its latitude, longitude, and a link to view it on a map are shown.
